Inaugurated in November 2007, the Confucius Institute at the University of Texas at Dallas is a non-profit public educational institution. Its mission is to teach Chinese language and culture, support Chinese language instruction in local schools, train
Chinese language teachers, and promote academic research on China. Affiliated with the School of Arts & Humanities, the Institute serves students on campus and people off campus in their needs for Chinese language, china knowledge, and resources for China
study. Dedicated to cultural, intellectual, business and economic exchanges between China and north Texas, it aims to become a regional center for China studies in the Dallas-Fort Worth areas.
Confucius Institutes tries to achieve its goals by providing the following services:

Teaching Chinese language and culture by offering credit and non-credit courses for UTD students and people in the community

Training Chinese language teachers

Supporting local schools to develop and strengthen their Chinese programs by establishing Confucius Classrooms

Organizing Chinese Proficiency Tests: HSK, HSKK, YCT and BCT

Conducting academic research on Chinese literature, history, society and philosophy; and holding international conferences and symposiums

Presenting lectures, exhibitions, competitions, camps, artistic performances and other events to help people understand China

Providing scholarship for students to study in China and provide grant for scholars to do academic research on China

Providing consultancies in China-related issues
